In Christmas time Milan becomes the ideal city for shopping gifts. Like every years the traditional Christmas markets characterize the city, bringing a lot of color and a lot of tourists.
A tradition loved by Milanese people. The events started in conjunction with Sant’Ambrogio feast on 7th December to continue throughout the Christmas period, until the Epiphany.
The Christmas markets period have been stated with the Oh Bej! Oh Bej! markets which this year have been held at the Castello Sforzesco with over 300 stands, which we have already suggested in a previous article (Guide to Christmas markets in Milan), and other markets located in different areas of the city. Set on the new City Life district area, the Mercatino del Gusto started on December 3rd until Christmas Eve, is a guarantee of high quality.
After the successful of the first edition, the producers present increased and is an unmissable opportunity to taste and buy many quality products in one location.
By the best Italian cold cuts, such as those of Antica Norcineria Morelli or San Daniele ham, the Agnoni products, the Bardi panettone, the Barbero Piedmontese nougat or the Savini truffles; these are just some of the products you can find at the Mercatino del Gusto. There are also stands dedicated to alcohol, with a selection of wine production, beers and champagne. Another gem of the market is the street food of Bologna Trattoria da Amerigo starred restaurant, with tortellini in broth and “tigelle” prepared by renowned chef Giuseppe Zen.

This Christmas spirit involved also the Darsena. This historic area was recently redesigned with its events and peculiar venues characterize the nightlife in Milan, furthermore, from December 7th until January 8th, becomes a Christmas oasis with a Christmas Market in South Tyrolean style.
By the characteristic wooden chalets at the market you can find small local crafts, Christmas decorations, sweets and regional food. But it will be the entire area of the canals to take a Christmas atmosphere with lots of events for families and children.

As always, under the Madonnina of the Cathedral there will be the historic market. Across Cathedral Square will be set up with a big fir and beautiful decorations you find the gazebos of the Christmas market, which is held between Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Via Arcivescovado. The market is mainly devoted to the typical Christmas products of the Italian regions. There will be so many homegrown delicacies and also a craft exhibition which displays the creations of artists and masters of wood, wool and wax.
