In Tortona district there is a venue where creativity reigns and where you can find rare books about design, photography and communication.
It’s the Design Library, the first of this kind in Italy, situated within a courtyard of an old building, a location entirely renovated located at Via Savona n.11.
The atmosphere at the Design Library is really striking; you’ll be amazed by the unusual Café, suitable for a business breakfast or a lunch while you are looking for the world’s leading design books and magazines.
The Café also offers appetizers and brunch. Founded as a library with the aim of supporting and nurturing creativity of professionals and students, the Design Library has subsequently evolved as a multi-purpose venue, where are scheduled many meetings, debates and workshops.
Among these, we mention the “Giovedì del Design” (Design Thursdays), weekly meetings with special guests, an event frequented by those who work in the various branches of design and people who likes original products. The updated calendar is available on the Design Library website.
The Café is open to all and this is a good excuse to sipping a drink and discover the new books of the catalog, instead to get all the services of the library you have to pay a subscription (the annual cost is 25 €).
To know more you can ask to the friendly and helpful staff of the library.
The furnishings were chosen by the architects and a part of the furniture was realized exclusively for Design Library. You’ll see more than 15.000 books around you, a collection started in 2006 thanks to a series of donations;
the collection is still increasing also to encourage people to deepen the design topics that are now a part of our everyday lives.
During the prestigious Salone del Mobile (and the collateral events of Fuorisalone) the Via Tortona area is livelier and the Design Library becomes the landmark for designers, students and visitors.
About the events, on 18th March opened an exhibition dedicated to the world of wellness “SPA World by Simone Micheli”; this exhibition includes a series of products related to wellness along with works realized for international projects.
The exhibition will be open to the public until 15th May.
