The Salone del Mobile, eagerly awaited each year, is once again ready to open its doors from 14th to 19th April.
However it is useful, to remember that for the first 4 days the entrance is reserved only to professionals, while is open to general public only the last two days, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April.
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano (Milan Furniture Fair), was launched in 1961 to promote exports of Italian design companies, and today includes a number of side events such as the Salone Satellite, dedicated to new talents, and the Salone Internazionale del Complemento d’Arredo (International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition), becoming an event of growing importance.
To find out what to see and how to plan your stay in Milan during Design Week we will provide all the useful information to take advantage of this prestigious event.
The Milan Furniture Fair 2015 takes place at Fiera di Milano in Rho, close to the Rho-fiera station stop of M1 Red Underground line.
The display area is about 200,000 square meters and this year there are 20 pavilions, so we recommend to go there early and prepare to a long day dedicated to the discovery of the innovations in design world.
To access the event it is necessary to register online on the official website www.salonemilano.it.
There are special rates for students, couples and families, all prices can be found on the site.
Alongside the traditional Salone del Mobile, divided into Classic, Modern and Design, this year there are two important biennial exhibitions: Euroluce, devoted to the excellence in lighting design, and Workplace 3.0/Salone Ufficio, focused on workspace design.
At the pavilion n.22, along with Workplace 3.0, the Salone Satellite presents 4 design talks on the theme of ‘”Planet Life” and the ceremonies for the SaloneSatellite Award.
Here you will meet hundreds of designers from all over the world, together with architects and entrepreneurs. As with previous editions, will be chosen and awarded the three best prototypes presented. A great opportunity to discover new young talented people designed for success!
Among the novelties of this edition of the Fair, we report two installations: “La Passeggiata” (The Walk), created by the architect Michele De Lucchi to stimulate consideration on workspaces, and “Favilla” by Attilio Stocchi, a project set up in Piazza San Fedele (close to Palazzo Marino) with the aim to disclose the nature of light.
The app in Italy, presented at the opening of Salone del Mobile, is available for free for Android and iOS devices and is designed to promote Italian knowledge by video of 70 innovative companies.
The Salone del Mobile 2015 is also on social networks, and this time the official hashtags to follow the event are 5: #iSaloni #Euroluce #Workplace #SaloneUfficio and #SaloneSatellite.
Once arrived at the Fair, to visit each pavilion in one day according to your own interests, we suggest you to download the official App of the Salone on your tablet or smartphone, as it let allow you finding the different exhibitors, offering information on the plan, the stands and all the available services at the Fair.
The names of brands to follow this year are, in our opinion, Arketipo Firenze, Officinanove, Adrenaline, Fast, Poliform and Calligaris.
