The historic Teatro Smeraldo opened in 1942 and closed in 2012, this venue once was the stage of memorable theatrical shows, concerts and film screenings, while now is the seat of Eataly, the first concept store of Italian food and lifestyle, in other words top quality food and wine accessible to everyone.

Entering at Eataly is a recommended experience if you want to approach the Italian gastronomic culture.


Here you can go shopping having at your fingertips the excellences of every Italian region. Eataly, in fact, aggregates a number of small companies operating in the food and wine compartment. It encompasses the durum wheat pasta from Gragnano, Piedmont’s egg pasta, mineral water from the Maritime Alps, Veneto wines, Ponente Riviera Ligure oil, Piedmont’s fassone meat and many more.

Buy typical Italian food at a gourmet market is a nice way to enjoy your time on holiday, taking home a tasty souvenir of the Belpaese.
Eataly Milan Smeraldo is spread over 3 floors including restaurants and shops where to find all kind of food and wines.

On the ground floor there is the bookshop that introduces the visitor to Eataly’s philosophy.


At the bookshop you can find the books of popular Italian chefs such as Cracco, Bastianich and Barbieri, the winner of the last edition of Masterchef Stefano Callegaro and the French chef Alain Ducasse, and of course several guides and cookbooks.
Next to the library, a space is reserved for kitchen utensils, from small appliances to molds for biscuits, ladles, plates, glasses, aprons and so on.

The main area of the ground floor is the fruit and vegetables market where to find the freshest seasonal products. In this area you can buy pasta, biscuits, bread, sweets, oil, sauces, jams and chocolate, you can also have lunch or dinner at the restaurant “La pasta” with a menu based on Gragnano pasta or fresh handmade pasta by Michelis of Mondovì.


You can round off your lunch tasting the sweet delights at “La Pasticceria” of Luca Montersino.

At the first floor there is a wide choice of Italian specialties: meat, fish, delicatessen area, cheeses and cold cuts.


Enjoy the special corner dedicated to the popular “mozzarella”, is a unique dairy shop in Milan.

This floor also houses the Smeraldo stage overlooking the market, a space where artists perform live concerts every day.

On the second floor there is a big wine bar, “Vino Libero”, which has a rich selection of Italian labels; furthermore here usually take place wine tastings, the right place for an aperitif! Fulfill your gourmet needs at the biggest food market in Milan.
