Until next October, Milan will be the “city as good as kiss”; an Italian expression which means that is a place where everything is done to perfection.
This is the name of an initiative born to promote the culture and the excellences of Made in Italy.
In detail, the areas covered by the project are art and culinary tradition, so have a look to the events you can join during your stay in Milan.
Twenty students invited by Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera will rework the famous painting “The Kiss” by Hayez, realizing the exhibition “An Academy of kisses”.
Through the website of the initiative you can vote for their favorite painting; on 29th October, the works will be the opportunity of a concrete gesture of solidarity with the charity auction dedicated to the most needy people.
On the occasion of the project the organizers created a new recipe for a sweet: the kiss of Milan, inspired by the local culinary traditions, a delicacy that can satisfy those who like pastries. “Il bacio di Milano” can be tasted free during all events of Milano città al bacio.
Tourists arrived in town for the Expo can also follow five routes, designed in collaboration with Touring Club, to explore the lesser-known corners of the city.
Among these, the striking medieval crypt of San Giovanni in Conca, the romantic streets of Brera district, feature typical antique shops, cafés and austere buildings, to name just a few of special places included in the guided tours.
As for the events, we point out that on 12th July, at the Nuova Darsena area, at Piazza XXIV Maggio, it will set up a photo shoot: passersby will be invited to kiss each other inspired by the painting The Kiss by Francesco Hayez, which will be the background of the set.
On 6th August, to brighten the summer in Milan, there will be a series of funny theatrical performances.
With the young actors of the company Teatribù wandering through the squares and streets of the city (Colonne di San Lorenzo, Piazza XXIV Maggio, Corso Como, Piazza Gae Aulenti) to provoke and engage the public on the “kiss” topic.
Since 29th September, it will start an interesting music festival dedicated to Milanese musicians, a journey through the songs from the fabulous ’60s, to the’ 70s rock rebel in until the music of our days.
Finally, on 29th October, the initiative will finish at Palazzo Bovara in Corso Venezia, where all the paintings of the Academy of kisses will be exposed.
A famous character from the showbiz, around which currently hovers a halo mystery, will be an auctioneer and will be selling the twenty works for charity.
